Meet Carol Marak:
Carol founded WorkingCaregiver.com and Carebuzz after seven years of helping her sisters care for their aging parents. During the “caregiving years”, she was a sales manager in the computer software industry.
Carol dealt with the day-to-day demands of elder care while working 50+ hours a week. She learned that the strains of worrying about aging loved ones while working full time affected one’s job productivity and their well being. The deciding point of starting a website for caregivers happened the moment she saw a large number of colleagues dealing with the same issues at work.
“That was eleven years ago and no one knew where to go for help. They were able to research chronic illnesses because WebMD launched about this time. Thank goodness. That was their saving grace. If they searched online for elder care resources or services, answers came up short. They did find a few government websites on aging and national not for profit websites too, but those didn’t help them locally. That’s when Carol declared – “this got to change”. She launched WorkingCaregiver.com and two years later, Carebuzz.com.”
Carol’s story took place in 2000 when consistent & clear elder care information did not exist. Forward now eleven years, a lot of senior care content thrives online and continues to grow! Good news is that people who are in the midst of learning about elder care, there’s a lot to read. The bad news is, if you’ve read what’s online, content sounds the same. It’s bland and causes confusion.
Purpose: Help senior care providers publish online content that serves as a powerful emissary for their business; to stir up interest, engagement, and invite connection with the family caregivers and seniors they support, service and sell to.
